Solar Battery Installation

At Sunbeam Solar and Electrical Solutions, we're excited to help you access these battery incentives. As your local accredited installer, we'll guide you through the process of choosing and installing the perfect battery system for your needs.

  • Reduced electricity costs through efficient solar energy storage
  • Reliable backup power during grid outages
  • A smaller environmental footprint with renewable energy

Our team is committed to helping NSW reduce electricity demand during peak periods and minimize power outage risks. By installing more batteries across NSW, we're contributing to making the grid more reliable and stable, while reducing reliance on fossil fuels during peak demand. This supports NSW's goal to reduce emissions by 70% by 2035 and achieve net zero by 2050.

Already have a battery? We can help you connect it to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), allowing you to earn additional income by sharing excess stored energy when the grid needs it most. Contact us to learn more.

🔔 New: Battery incentives are now available for eligible customers

How to reduce your battery installation costs

The cost reduction for your battery installation comes in the form of a supplier incentive rather than a direct rebate. Qualified suppliers receive this incentive and transfer the savings to you through your selected local installer.

Available discounts for eligible customers:

  • For 6.5 kWh battery systems: Savings between $770 and $1150
  • For 13.5 kWh battery systems: Savings between $1600 and $2400

Contact us today at 1300 789 291 or email info@sbse.com.au to discuss your battery installation needs.

Step 2: Choose a battery

To be eligible for this scheme, the chosen battery must meet certain performance and warranty requirements. We recommend speaking to your chosen installer about selecting a battery that is right for you and eligible under the scheme.

ℹ️ Important Information: Some batteries may only be compatible with specific inverters. Ensure the battery you choose is compatible with your current inverter to avoid additional costs for changing inverters and voiding the warranty of your inverter. Your chosen installer or accredited supplier can assist with this. Find out more here.
Step 3: Sign the nomination form

Your chosen installer will provide you with the nomination form allowing the accredited supplier to receive the incentive from the NSW Government. You must sign and return this form before you can receive a discount on your installation. The installer will also present you with an installation contract to sign.

Once you have completed the nomination form and signed the contract, you can proceed with the installation and receive your discount. If you have any issues or questions, contact your supplier for assistance.

Step 4: Organise your installation

Set a date for installation with your chosen installer. Your installer will submit all necessary documents to your distribution network and electricity retailer to connect the battery to the grid.

Common Questions About Battery Installation

Our team at Sunbeam Solar has compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions about battery installations and incentives.

Does the incentive money get paid to the customer or accredited supplier?

The incentive is not a direct rebate to customers. It's provided as an upfront discount to the accredited supplier that installs the battery and then it is passed onto the customer.

What is an accredited supplier?

Accredited suppliers are also known as Accredited Certificate Providers (ACPs). These are businesses that have been accredited by the scheme administrator (IPART) to conduct specific installations and upgrades under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS).

Are there any requirements to be eligible for the battery incentives?

You can receive an incentive when you install a battery with an accredited supplier under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) to install the battery. If you don't have solar, you can have the incentive priced into a new solar and battery system installation.

Does the installation cost include the battery itself?

Generally, installers will provide a quote that states both the cost of the battery and the installation separately. However, installers have full discretion to choose how they quote, and some may instead provide a single all-inclusive price.

We recommend keeping a record of communications that clearly states the inclusions and exclusions before any changes hands.

What battery storage capacities are eligible for this incentive?

Batteries with storage between 7 and 28 kWh are eligible for this incentive. The incentive provided is proportional to the usable capacity of the battery.

Most households will find batteries in this range sufficient for their needs. The national average energy use for a 5-person household is 25 kWh per day.

Some batteries can also be stacked to enable you to increase your storage capacity later. Your chosen accredited supplier will be able to provide more information on what capacity is best suited to your needs.

Can I receive an incentive for a battery that is already installed?

The installation incentive is only available for new battery installations.

Batteries already installed may be eligible to receive a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) incentive, provided the battery has proof of the manufacturer's warranty period and meets the equipment requirements. Find out more here

Is it safe for me to install a battery in my home?

Provided that all equipment and implementation requirements of the structures are met, as required in the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS), and ongoing maintenance and monitoring is undertaken, battery installation is safe.

Accredited suppliers under the PDRS are subject to additional compliance checks to ensure compliance with strict safety requirements, including professional installation and adherence to relevant standards and regulations.
